The research was motivated by the many students who have difficulty in understanding mathematics, students think that mathematics is a difficult subject. Therefore, to improve student learning outcomes necessary application discovery method as a method to improve student learning outcomes. The problems that arise in this study were (a) How do I apply a method of discovery in an effort to improve student learning outcomes math class III SD Negeri 1 Plosorejo the material around the square and rectangle? (B) How do the results of student learning through discovery methods? Classroom action research subjects are students III SD N 1 Plosorejo totaling 22 students, which consisted of 9 male - male and 13 female. The independent variable in this study is the effectiveness of learning mathematics using the method of the invention and the dependent variable of student learning outcomes. With over 2 cycles concluded that the implementation of learning by discovery methods to improve student learning outcomes and student activity. To increase student learning outcomes indicated value - average is 66.14 in the first cycle, the second cycle 73.95.increasing student mastery learning, students who pass the first cycle study of 15 students and an incomplete 7 students, as well as classical completeness 68%. Cycle II were thoroughly studied 21 students, and an incomplete one student, as well as classical completeness 95%. The results of the second cycle competency test cycle better than I. Student activity also increased, it is demonstrated activity of students in the second cycle> Cycle I (76.14%> 55.41%), so it appears that the activity of students SDN I Plosorejo cycle II cycle more effectively than I.
