Character education in schools is vital. The next generation needs to be equipped with basic skills that are not only capable of making life-long learners as one of the important characters to life in a global information age, also able to work well as a positive role. Therefore some efforts should be made to improving the effectiveness of the learning process with the development of a positive culture. Based on observations and interviews with teachers, especially science teachers of SMP 30 Semarang, the characters were written / mandated by the Ministry of Education has been done in teaching and learning is given orally to the student, not planting character through teaching materials science. Teaching materials with the building characterswill be more structured, systematic according to the concept, so that students can read not just hear it. This will be a habit to in their daily lives through learning (reading the teaching materials), thus building characters of the students much easier. Targets on the IBM implementation was junior science teachers. The outputs were junior science teachers who are skilled in making character-based teaching materials. Activities conducted by IBM training on manufacturing materials. Training consisting of educational activities concerning the provision of material character, the character of the IPA, the manufacture of printed instructional materials and integrating character education in science teaching materials. Subsequent activities performed practice of creating instructional materials that have been inserted by the appearance of the character containing the material to build the character of students.
