Diffraction of sound on an elastic cylindrical shell with a covering

submitted by MigueKyan 2 months ago

Diffraction of a hydroacoustic field on an elastic cylindrical shell with a covering was considered. Conditions allowing minimization of the scattered field at combined selection of impedances were obtained.

Diffraction of a plane acoustic wave by a non-uniform thermoelastic cylindrical layer bounded by inviscid heat-conducting fluids
submitted by sextast 2 years and 5 months ago
The diffraction of sound by a radially laminated isotropic thermoelastic cylindrical shell is considered. The system of equations for small perturbations of a hollow thermoelastic cylinder is reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations, the boundary-value problem for which is solved by...

Effect comparative and experimental analysis of diffraction sound field caused by impedance sphere and elastic spherical shell on directivity of vector sensor
submitted by ndohrgaaclein 4 months ago
The directivity of acoustic vector sensor (AVS) will be distorted by the sound diffraction of the AVS carrier. A common AVS carrier in accordance with its acoustic characteristics can be approximately classified into three types: absolute soft air cavity, absolute rigid solid metal body and elast...

On the neutron diffraction in crystals in the field of a sound wave
submitted by mhkholif 2 years and 4 months ago
Diffraction of neutrons in crystals under influence of a sound wave is considered. The probability of scattering of neutrons at the elastic interaction with the crystal is calculated. On the contrary, scattering of neutrons by an acoustical phonon has inelastic character. The possibility to contr...

Deformation of lower-mantle ferropericlase (Mg,Fe)O across the electronic spin transition
submitted by DaytoIsaia 2 years and 4 months ago
Recent high-pressure studies have shown that an electronic spin transition of iron in ferropericlase, an expected major phase of Earth's lower mantle, results in changes in its properties, including density, incompressibility, radiative thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and sound vel...

Magnetic properties of I3-Fe2O3 nanoparticles encapsulated in surface-treated polymer spheres
submitted by izzy 2 years and 4 months ago
Moessbauer and magnetic characterization of polymer-dispersed I3-Fe2O3 nanoparticles treated under different chemical processes are reported in this work. X-ray powder diffraction analysis provides a mean particle size of D ~ 8.0 nm. Whereas Moessbauer spectroscopy data suggest the presence of on...

The deformation of Gum Metal through in situ compression of nanopillars
submitted by JudaMitch 2 years and 3 months ago
The name "Gum Metal" has been given to a set of I2-Ti alloys that achieve exceptional elastic elongation and, with appropriate preparation, appear to deform by a dislocation-free mechanism triggered by elastic instability at the limit of strength. We have studied the compressive deformation of th...

On the neutron diffraction in crystals in the field of a standing sound wave
submitted by jaja 2 years and 1 month ago
The diffraction of neutrons is considered in crystals under the influence of a standing sound wave. The scattering probability is calculated for the elastic neutron-crystal interaction, whereas the neutron-standing sound wave interaction can be either elastic and inelastic. The possibility of sho...

Combined diffraction and radiation of ocean waves around an OWC device
submitted by JimSkyl 1 year and 11 months ago
In a previous paper we provided an analytical solution for the problem of diffraction of plane surface waves by a suspended hollow cylindrical shell structure. Following on from that work, in this paper we formulate and solve the related problem of radiation of ocean waves by an oscillating surfa...

Preparation and characterization of flame-retardant lamellar Mg(OH)2 thin films on citric acid-treated cotton fabrics
submitted by erson 1 year and 10 months ago
Preparation and characterization of lamellar magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) thin films on cotton fabrics are reported in this paper. Mercerized cotton fabrics were treated with citric acid, so carboxyl groups were introduced to the surface of the fabrics. Mg(OH)2 seeds were first adsorbed on the c...

As-Cast Residual Stresses in an Aluminum Alloy AA6063 Billet: Neutron Diffraction Measurements and Finite Element Modeling
submitted by printpok 1 year and 7 months ago
The presence of thermally induced residual stresses, created during the industrial direct chill (DC) casting process of aluminum alloys, can cause both significant safety concerns and the formation of defects during downstream processing. Although numerical models have been previously developed t...
