Human nerve stem cells in vitro

submitted by Jordanfx 2 months ago

The growth characteristics of a fraction of the human embryonic brain Nest-positive cells cultivated in vitro are the subject of the study. Our data demonstrate a probable increase in the content of Nest-positive cells in the cell population from 44.1 to 62.5% as a response to the presence of EGF and bFGF in a growth medium supplemented with heat-inactivated serum. Further differentiation in the cell culture led to a decrease in the number of Nest-positive cells. Retinoic acid-based stimulation of neural induction causes a decrease in the content of these cells in the population by 14.1%. The results of this study will allow for the obtaining of a nerve cell population that could be more effective as a graft material suitable for therapeutic use.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive death of substantia nigra dopaminergic neurons that results in a regional loss of striatal dopamine (DA) levels.Dental pulp contains ex vivo-expandable cells called dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), with the c...

Varicella-Zoster Virus Infection of Differentiated Human Neural Stem Cells
submitted by moenasdeas 11 months ago
Primary varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infection in humans produces varicella (chickenpox), after which the virus becomes latent in ganglionic neurons. Analysis of the physical state of viral nucleic acid and virus gene expression during latency requires postmortem acquisition of fresh human gangli...

A Comparison of High-Content Screening versus Manual Analysis to Assay the Effects of Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Conditioned Medium on Neurite Outgrowth In Vitro
submitted by aroxxaleinvo 1 year and 11 months ago
Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) promote nerve growth and functional recovery in animal models of spinal cord injury (SCI) to varying levels. The authors have tested high-content screening to examine the effects of MSC-conditioned medium (MSC-CM) on neurite outgrowth from the human neuro...

Calcitonin gene-related peptide regulates the growth of epidermal stem cells in vitro
submitted by loleb 1 year and 9 months ago
Epidermal stem cells are characterized as slow-cycling, multi-potent, self-renewing cells that not only maintain somatic homeostasis, but also participate in tissue regeneration and repair. Various factors can influence the growth of epidermal stem cells. Recently, dysregulation of epidermal stem...

Human Umbilical Vein-Derived Dopaminergic-Like Cell Transplantation with Nerve Growth Factor Ameliorates Motor Dysfunction in a Rat Model of Parkinson's Disease
submitted by LucCorbin 1 year and 9 months ago
Mesenchymal stem cells are capable of differentiating into dopaminergic-like cells, but currently no report has been available to describe the induction of human umbilical vein mesenchymal stem cells (HUVMSCs) into dopaminergic-like cells. In this study, we induced HUVMSCs in vitro into neurosphe...

Cell-based therapy has achieved promising functional recovery for peripheral nerve repair. Although Schwann cells and bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) are the main cell source for nerve tissue engineering, the clinical application is limited because of donor site morbidity, the invasi...

Rapid Differentiation of Human Embryonal Carcinoma Stem Cells (NT2) into Neurons for Neurite Outgrowth Analysis

Plasticity of human menstrual blood stem cells derived from the endometrium

Stem cells can be obtained from women’s menstrual blood derived from the endometrium. The cells display stem cell markers such as Oct-4, SSEA-4, Nanog, and c-kit (CD117), and have the potent ability to differentiate into various cell types, including the heart, nerve, bone, cartilage, and fat. ...

Improvement of hind-limb paralysis following traumatic spinal cord injury in rats by grafting normal human keratinocytes: new cell-therapy strategy for nerve regeneration
submitted by KendCrist 9 months ago
Somatic (adult) stem cells are thought to have pluripotency, just as do embryotic stem (ES) cells. We investigated the possibility that grafted epithelial keratinocytes could induce spinal cord regeneration in an animal model of spinal cord injury (SCI). Normal human keratinocytes were cultured b...
