This study investigated that the utilization of resin impregnated decorative and overlay paper wastes obtained from the edge trimming of partially cured, dried papers as a binder in the manufacture of the light medium density fiberboard (MDF). The light MDF panels were prepared from various mixtures of the softwood fiber and hammer-milled impregnated paper waste, 95/5, 9/1, and 8/2 wt %. The results of the experiments showed that the dimensional stability and mechanical properties of the light MDF panels were improved by adding hammer-milled melamine impregnated paper waste. The resin impregnated paper waste could be evaluated as a binder for the manufacturing of the light MDF panels having better dimensional stability and mechanical properties than light MDF panels used in interior applications.

The Enhancement of Surface Finish Using Water-miscible Nano-cutting Fluid in Ultra-precision Turning
This paper presents an experimental study on the enhancement effect of the low viscosity cutting fluid enriched with nano-droplets (NDCF) in ultra-precision turning. Unlike the conventional method in which the enhancement is done by adding nano-metric particles, no suspension particles are mixed ...

Dimensional analysis and scaling in mechanical mixing for fabrication of metal matrix nanocomposites
For a successful enhancement of mechanical properties of metal matrix nanocomposites, a homogeneous nanoparticle dispersion and distribution in the solidified metal is required. Mechanical mixing can be used for initial break-up of agglomerates, and its study can be simplified with dimensional an...
Enhancement of formability of aluminum alloys in multi-stage forming operations by a local intermediate heat treatment
Within this paper a new approach to enhance the formability of aluminum alloys in multi-stage forming processes will be presented. The technology’s key idea is the local adaption of the mechanical properties after a first forming step and their optimization for the subsequent forming operation....

Synergistic Effect of Layered Nanofillers in Intumescent Flame-Retardant EPDM: Montmorillonite versus Layered Double Hydroxides
In this work, flame-retardant ethylene–propylene–diene terpolymer (EPDM) composites were prepared by incorporating intumescent flame-retardant (IFR) together with two different organically modified layered nanoparticles: montmorillonite (OMMT) and layered double hydroxides (OLDH). The morphol...
Fabrication of Spirocyclic Phosphazene Epoxy-Based Nanocomposites with Graphene via Exfoliation of Graphite Platelets and Thermal Curing for Enhancement of Mechanical and Conductive Properties
Nanocomposites of a spirocyclic phosphazene epoxy (SP-epoxy) resin with graphene were prepared through the exfoliation of graphite platelets and thermal curing process. Transmission electric microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the chemical exfoliation an...

Enhancement of geometric accuracy of five-axis machining centers based on identification and compensation of geometric deviations
The present paper describes the enhancement of kinematic accuracy of five-axis machining centers with a tilting rotary table. Geometric deviations inherent to the five-axis machine are calibrated through the actual trajectories measured by two different settings of a ball bar in simultaneous thre...

Steam-Enhanced Calcium Looping Cycles with Calcium Aluminate Pellets Doped with Bromides
This study explores the effect of calcium bromide (CaBr2) doping of lime-based sorbents in the presence of steam during calcination/carbonation cycles. Two sorbents were tested: natural limestone (Cadomin, Canada) and a synthetic sorbent (pellets) prepared from Cadomin limestone with addition of ...

Enhancement of CO2 Mineralization in Ca2+-/Mg2+-Rich Aqueous Solutions Using Insoluble Amine
The potential for using concentrated seawater to fix CO2 by adding insoluble amine extractant was tested and verified. The experimental results showed that over 90% of Ca2+ ions could be converted to precipitation. Ammonia was chosen as regenerant to regenerate the extracting agent; the regenerat...
