Polymeric Pu(IV) at concentrations from 1-5 to 1-8 M in solutions with pH ∼8, i.e., under the conditions close to those in natural waters, does not disproportionate, and its polymeric species are stable. If Pu(VI) is present in solution under these conditions simultaneously with polymeric Pu(IV), it is incorporated in polymeric Pu(IV) species. Without polymeric Pu(IV), Pu(VI) under similar conditions undergoes hydrolysis to form intrinsic polymeric species in solution.

Behavior of plutonium in various oxidation states in aqueous solutions: II. Behavior of Pu(V) and Pu(III) at concentrations of 1-5-1-8 M in solutions at pH ∼8
Pu(V) does not exist for a long time in solutions at pH ∼8 and concentrations of 1-5-1-8 M because of disproportionation to polymeric Pu(IV) and Pu(VI), which form a common polymeric structure that subsequently does not significantly change. Plutonium(III) at its concentrations from 1-5 to 1...

Speciation and oxidation reaction analysis of selenium in aqueous solution using X-ray absorption spectroscopy for management of trace element in FGD liquor
Batch and in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) analysis were applied to the identification of selenium in aqueous solution containing selenite ( Se ( IV ) O 3 2 - ) and selenate ( Se ( VI ) O 4 2 - ) ranging from 10 to 1000mg-Se/L, respectively. Se K-edge XANES spectra ...
Effect of O2, H2O2, and HNO2 on the stability of Np(III–VII) in aqueous solutions
Published data on reactions of Np ions with O2, H2O2, HNO2, and HNO3 in solutions of various compositions in a wide pH range are considered. O2 oxidizes Np(III) in acid solution and Np(IV) and Np(V) in alkaline solutions. H2O2 exhibits dual behavior. In weakly acidic solutions, it converts Np(III...

Studying the electronic structure of CrxTi1−xSe2 by X-ray resonance and absorption spectroscopy
CrxTi1 − xSe2 (x = –.83) solid solutions have been synthesized. Single crystals have been grown in the range of concentrations x = –.83. Structural studies of samples have revealed that chromium atoms substitute titanium in the TiSe2 matrix. The X-ray photoelectron spectra of the core level...
Thermodynamic properties of ternary mixtures containing water, 2-ethoxyethanol, and t-butanol at 298.15 K
Ultrasonic speeds and isentropic compressibilities were measured at 298.15 K in the water-rich region of aqueous solutions of water + 2-ethoxyethanol (2EE) + t-butanol. The excess properties of ultrasonic speed and isentropic compressibility were also calculated and have been discussed in terms o...

Stability of Pu(VI) and Pu(V) in aqueous formate solutions
The behavior of Pu(VI), Pu(V), and Pu(IV) in K(Li,Na)HCO2 and HCOOH + Li(Na)HCO2 solutions was studied by spectrophotometry. Changes in the spectra of a Pu(VI) solution, observed on adding alkali metal formates, suggest formation of Pu(VI) formate complexes. Changes in the absorption spectra of P...
Dielectric relaxation study of aqueous 2-ethoxyethanol using time domain reflectometry technique
The complex permittivity spectra of 2-ethoxyethanol in water solutions have been studied at different concentrations and temperatures using a picosecond time domain reflectometry technique. The complex dielectric permittivity spectrum of 2-ethoxyethanol shows Cole-Davidson type behavior. Increase...

Morphological, structural, and photoelectrochemical characterization of n-type Cu2O thin films obtained by electrodeposition
Thin films of copper(I) oxide (Cu2O) were electrodeposited on fluorine-doped tin oxide predeposited glass substrates, by reduction of Cu2+ from Cu(II) acetate acid aqueous solutions. The Cu2O was potentiostatically grown at a potential value of −0.450 V (vs. SMSE) at 70 °C. The Cu2O thin f...
Electrospun PLA: PCL composites embedded with unmodified and 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (ASP) modified halloysite nanotubes (HNT)
Electrospinning is a simple and versatile fiber synthesis technique in which a high-voltage electric field is applied to a stream of polymer melt or polymer solution, resulting in the formation of continuous micro/nanofibers. Halloysite nanotubes (HNT) have been found to achieve improved structur...

Convective heat transfer in foams under laminar flow in pipes and tube bundles
The present study reports experimental data and scaling analysis for forced convection of foams and microfoams in laminar flow in circular and rectangular tubes as well as in tube bundles. Foams and microfoams are pseudoplastic (shear thinning) two-phase fluids consisting of tightly packed bubble...
